Whitmer Proposes Three Debates Focused on Education and Skills Training, Clean Water and Infrastructure, Affordable Health Care

LANSING – Today Gretchen Whitmer’s campaign for governor issued the following statement on debate negotiations with Attorney General Bill Schuette’s campaign. The Whitmer campaign is proposing three debates: one in the Detroit media market focused on education and skills training, one in the Flint media market focused on clean water and infrastructure, and one in Grand Rapids focused on expanding access to affordable health care.

“Michigan families deserve an opportunity to hear the candidates debate their policy proposals on a variety of important economic issues,” said Press Secretary Nicole Simmons. “That’s why we’re proposing a series of three televised debates focused specifically on education and skills training, clean water and infrastructure, and affordable health care. We look forward to sitting down with the Attorney General’s campaign in the coming weeks to finalize a debate schedule.”
